About Joshua

Hello my name is Joshua Faulkner. From past to present my training in rhythm, poise, grace and body control has contributed to my ability to excel and progress in the field of dancing. At the age of six I started my training in gymnastics. For seven years I trained and competed in local competitions. I finished my last year and was blessed to compete and place first in Oregon’s State Competition.

After my training in gymnastics I went into Korean martial arts. I began in basic self-defense, sparring and the art of Korean forms. I continued my training for the next three years, gaining control over my body and mind, and receiving a black belt in my third year.

Having experienced two very different forms of art, gymnastics and Tae Kwon Do, I decided to move into the study of dance. I began at Fred Astaire Dance Studios, where I learned their professional way of teaching. I learned and taught all thirteen ballroom, latin, and swing dances. I also competed throughout the U.S.

Soon after traveling and competing I joined Portland’s first salsa performing group called Sabor Latino. Our group danced for social events, clubs and performed Portland’s first salsa concert. Now I’m bringing my style and technique to Santa Barbara and am thoroughly enjoying sharing my knowledge and experience with this exciting community.

Sincerely,
Joshua Faulkner
