}Private lessons are an excellent way to develop confidence, competence and grace. Whether you're new to dance or an aspiring competitor, private lessons are one of the fastest and most effective ways to boost your technique, rhythm, and style. I offer private lessons for individuals, couples, or larger groups, including lessons and performances for charitable causes (see "Events").
- Group lessons: group lessons have many different benefits. A
wonderful opporutnity to meet other students with similar dancing
goals. Usually done in a 4 week series, you the student recevie
instruction in pattern technique and style. Each class builds on the
previous lessons, making it easier to tie all your steps together.
- Private lessons: priviate lessons are where you will grow as a
dancer at a much quicker rate. These lessons run 45 minutes with just
you and your instructor. The personalized attention you receive from
your teacher give you a clear understanding of body control, technique
and creating your own expression of dancing. Private lessons are
available for both individuals and couples.
Please call for current availablity and rates.

If you are interested in getting some salsa practice, check out Ruby's (on State St. across from Macy's) on Thursday and Saturday evenings from 10 to 1:30. If you like a little variety, come to Ruby's on Tuesday nights, when I am deejaying some great salsa, swing, and tango tunes. A monthly or bi-monthly salsa social night is in the works. It will probably be on Fridays

}I was first introduced to
partner dancing through Fred Astaire Dance studios, which trained
me in their unique style of dance and their professional way
of teaching. Upon dancing I was required to learn and teach
the style of all thirteen dances that ballroom, Latin, and
swing had to offer. During my time at Fred Astaire I learned
how each dance broke down to certain basic elements. Every
dance had its own appearance, partnership, and expression.
I was trained in poise and posture, control and balance, and
timing and rhythm. I learned not only how to dance the male
part but the lady’s as well. Understanding how these dances
worked came easy to me but teaching them to another person
took time and practice. I found that it was really two different
skills to dance and to teach. I think because of my love of
dance and my desire to enrich my students' lives with knowledge
and confidence, it makes my job of teaching fun and challenging.
Each
year that I taught I entered into competitions
which took me all over the United States. Taking my dancing
to the competition arena taught me how to make my skills even
more articulate and sharp. Soon after traveling and competing
I joined Portland’s first salsa performing group called Sabor
Latino. Our group danced for social events, clubs and performed
Portland’s first salsa concert. All these experiences led
me to finally owning my own business in dance instruction.
Now I’m bringing my style and technique to Santa Barbara
and am thoroughly enjoying sharing my knowledge and experience
with this exciting community. Dance Santa Barbara ! Its more than an activity - it's a way of life.
